In spite of pullout rumorsToyota decides to stay in formula one at least till 2012 and if possible even longer. At the Barcelona test, it was announced that if another carmaker joins Honda in pulling out of the sport amidst the global recession, then it will most likely be Toyota.
Howett said that “we will retreat if we do not win.

But when you look at the general economic climate, all the teams have to proceed with caution, and all must be successful, which puts on the pressure”. He has said this in the French language.
Howett confirmed that Toyota’s present obligation is up to 2012 and may be even longer than that.
But at the same time there is much pressure on the market that it is a must to provide value to the company. Howett added that he was confident though, he also remarked that if the company has a strong season, then it will stay.”
