The newest Toyota Matrix comes in 3 trim levels: base, S and XRS. Base models are convenient and safe. They have features as standard or optional, but the S has more of the standard equipment.

The XRS is the top-level trim with bigger wheels and a sport-tuned suspension. On the base Matrix a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 132 horsepower can be seen. The S and XRS models have a 2.4-liter engine that makes 158 hp. An all-wheel-drive version of the Matrix S with a four-speed automatic is also available.

The new matrix has a vastly better driving position, with the new telescoping steering wheel and augmented seat-track travel. The tall and deep bench at the back is easy for children and adults alike, and it folds completely flat in 60/40 sections.
The extra torque from the 2.4-liter engine makes the driving experience more relaxed. Actually the Matrix is balanced and predictable, and the overall ride quality is very comfortable.
