Toyota unveiled the renovated Prius on Monday. It announced that it already has 80,000 advance orders in Japan. This advance order for revamped hybrid is amidst the increasing competition with Honda’s rival the Insight. The world’s largest automaker states that it has a goal of selling nearly 400,000 units all over the globe in a year.

The Prius is the top selling gas-electric hybrid in the world. It has a cumulative record sale of 1.256 million units in more than 40 nations and regions. The new Prius is believed to be sold in 80 nations and regions.
But at present the giant automaker is facing a challenge from Honda Motor Co., whose more economically priced Insight has sold rapidly since its introduction in Japan in the month of February.
The price for Pirus in Japan would start at 2.05 million yen, or around $21,600, less than its ancestor model’s Japan base price.
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., has accounted that its vehicle sales for the month of May has stuck a new monthly high for the year. The figure of sales for May climbed up by 20.6 percent when compared to April 2009 sales. Sales of 152,583 vehicles dropped back comparatively to last year and it was down by 38.4% from last May, on a day-to-day selling rate footing.
The Toyota Division sales for May were 135,661 units, a reduction of 39.0% from the same period last year. The Lexus Division sales for the same month were 16,922 units, which showed a decrease of 33.9% when compared to the same time last year.
Toyota Division passenger cars sales for May was 88,173 units which is down by 40.0% compared to the same period last year, but the sales has increased by 24.8% over April 2009. Camry and Camry Hybrid stayed as Toyota’s volume leader in May with collective monthly sales of 31,325 units. Corolla’s sales were 23,576 units and Yaris 10,130 units for the month. The Prius mid-size gas-electric hybrid sales for the month of May were 10,091 units.
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) declares that it displayed the new China-market edition of the “Crown” and the “Camry Hybrid” for the first time in China during a press conference.

Ford has been able to make more sales due to its new 2010 Fusion. Ford sold 18,321 Fusions in April, which is a 21.7% enhancement over last April and a record for any month.
Toyota has declared the restyled Crown Majesta in Japan. The Crown Majesta challenges vehicles like the Nissan Fuga and the Honda Legend. Its wheelbase is 75mm longer than it was previously and serves bring the car’s entire length to just less than 5 meters.

Two engines are provided. One is the 4.3-liter V8 which is fitted out to four-wheel-drive models with a 6 Super ECT transmittance. The other is a 4.6-liter V8 with an 8-speed electronically-commanded gearbox. Only two-wheel-drive models will get this engine.
The car has many safety features and a camera that detects pedestrians at the front. A Pre-crash Seat backs system that sets seats to an upright position for better safety if a crash is viewed as imminent and an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) rear-seat center airbag. A total of ten airbags are included as standard.
The price range is from ¥6,100,000 to ¥6,900,000.
In spite of pullout rumorsToyota decides to stay in formula one at least till 2012 and if possible even longer. At the Barcelona test, it was announced that if another carmaker joins Honda in pulling out of the sport amidst the global recession, then it will most likely be Toyota.
Howett said that “we will retreat if we do not win.

But when you look at the general economic climate, all the teams have to proceed with caution, and all must be successful, which puts on the pressure”. He has said this in the French language.
Howett confirmed that Toyota’s present obligation is up to 2012 and may be even longer than that.
But at the same time there is much pressure on the market that it is a must to provide value to the company. Howett added that he was confident though, he also remarked that if the company has a strong season, then it will stay.”
Toyota has produced the first ever center airbag for the back seats and this will help protect rear passengers from side shocks in the event of a smash.

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) boasts a rear center console with an airbag that spreads between the rear passenger seats. A closer look at the photo shows the airbag spreading from the upper center backrest area just above the dummy’s right shoulder.
Toyota has not yet mentioned which model(s) will have the new airbag. The press release has simply stated that the SRS will be introduced in “a Toyota model to be launched in Japan in the near future.” In reality more airbags are constantly good and that a center airbag can be valuable, so that when you are driving with your parents, home on a wet, slippery night they don’t cluck their heads together when you end up rolling the car because of their ceaseless squabbling.

FT-HS Concept car of Toyota was revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit two years back. The car was powered by a 3.5-litre V6 hybrid engine, and it pointed towards an environ-friendly sports car future. After this the car appeared in other auto shows. After that it was quiet till now.
Toyota is formulating FT-HS Concept into a production model which is going to represent all the good about sports cars and all the good for the environment utilizing a changed Prius powertrain. The Japanese car group Toyota which is in trouble declared on Wednesday 10 % cuts in output and pay at its 2 British factories for a year to safeguard thousands of jobs.
The cuts start in April at the sites in Burnaston, and Deeside.
The company has 3,900 employees at its main production site in Burnaston and 570 employees at its engine plant in Deeside. 200 temporary jobs were cut last week and a voluntary redundancy scheme was opened.
Toyota after following an extensive consultation with employee representatives and with input from all employees, it agreed that the best way to protect long-term employment is to reduce working hours and base pay by 10 percent for the time being.
The global auto sector is in distress because of the economic slowdown, with thousands of jobs cut amongst billion-dollar bailouts targeted at rescuing carmakers, particularly in the United States.
